I did some test to find out the function of a protein group. I would like to know of there are standard Test I can do, maybe something with a wider range of possibilities then what I am doing now.

Should you first check the sub cellular localization?

  1. Check the sequence in databases to get some ideas. Soluble or membrane? Any localisation signal?
  2. Overexpress maybe as GFP-Fusionprotein and test your theory from (1)
  3. Downregulate by RNAi and test your theory from (1) and (2)
  4. Pull-down assay and check associated proteins
